The Dogecoin and Shiba Inu-themed dog Kabosu passed away today and reached the heavenly abode. The popular dog was nearly 18 years old and became an internet sensation for more than a decade.
The dog’s passing has caused sadness in the cryptocurrency community as it was the sole reason why millions of investors found the market. Dogecoin was inspired by Kabosu and the founders Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer used the DOGE logo in its image.

When Dogecoin was launched in 2013, the meme currency attracted new and first-time investors into its fold. It quickly became a fun-themed coin and distanced itself away from the seriousness of finances. Shiba Inu was launched in the shadows of Dogecoin using the dog as its logo.
Right after Shiba Inu’s debut in 2020, another batch of new and first-time investors took entry positions in the cryptocurrency market. Both Dogecoin and Shiba Inu are affordable to the average investors, therefore buying the coins did not burn a hold in their pockets.
